[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] That ball clearly hit the dirt before he caught it. I agree, you could just see the ball jump sharply up as it went into the glove, so it must have hit the dirt. Only after about 4 different replays did I notice that. [/ QUOTE ] Thanks for having eyes, unlike everyone else. I noticed on the first replay. Not that hard really, you see a white thing change direction, it had to hit something... one of Newton's laws of motion or something.. [/ QUOTE ] Sorry but you guys are wrong... the ball hit the webbing of the glove. [/ QUOTE ] If a ball traveling 80+ MPH hits the dirt, you would have seen the dirt move. Razor is right. [/ QUOTE ] Joke, right? Any possible dirt that "moves" there, is instantly smothered by his mitt. Please don't be ridiculous. You naysayers need IRREFUTABLE evidence to overturn this call. More than one of us agrees with the original assessment that it hit dirt first. |

End of discussion. [/ QUOTE ] Yes, regardless of all this arguing, all Paul has to do is tag the guy to make certain he's out. Paul made a fundamental error, the ump was indecisive, AJ P made a heads up play and such is life. 2 outs, then a stolen base with 0-2 on Crede, and a ripped double down the line, come on. AJ P getting to first didnt lose this for them. They gave up a SB, then an 0-2 double raked down the line all with 2 outs. Series tied, Buehrle pitched PHENOMENALLY and it should have been over anyway had Rowand just stayed at 3rd with nobody out! lol. |

[/ QUOTE ] This is being argued both ways by several different people on this board after watching the replay at least a dozen times. The umps didn't have that benefit. The call was close. Paul should have tagged him. I do question the ump ringing him up though, but I don't know the ruling on that. Sciossia and the crew chief seemed to be arguing that point. That play counts as a strike out regardless, so maybe the ring up is moot. |

Re: ****THE Official ALCS CHISOX vs. LAA Thread****
[ QUOTE ]
Home plate ump raises his right hand to signify strike, then raises his right arm to signify the hitter/runner is out. You CANNOT expect the defense to not be trotting off the field after you call the batter/runner out, and you absolutely CANNOT give him that base, regardless of whether the ball hit the dirt or not. Horrible, horible, horrible. That said, I'm really glad the White Sox won. [censored] the Angels. GoT [/ QUOTE ] How on earth can you hate the Angels? |
