Default when you miss in a big pot??

this is something that constantly makes me wonder... 4 people all pre flop raising to $1 or $2 or whatever the limit is... the pot is HUGE... and i have AK and i miss on the flop... i have two overcards... stay to the turn? river? or just fold right away.. i tend to stay to the turn in pots like this.. but im really unsure

It Depends (tm)
Count your overcards as 3 outs total, and look to see if you have any backdoor flush or straight draws. Compare to the size of the pot to see if you're getting odds to draw.

Of course theres a lot more to it than that. See SSH Page 221-235. Sometimes you raise with your overcards. Sometimes youll bet them one or more times. Other times you just check and fold.

thing is even with 1 other caller you get pot odds.. even though your equity is crap... 8 bets in pot max raised.. turn will be 5BB and you'll have to fold .. if two other people other than you max it pre flop then have the odds for 6 outs on the turn and river.. ack? is this just plain gambling in the long run or can profit be made?
