Default Foxwoods 1/2 NL hand...I hate trips.

Is there any way to get away from this hand or am I just overplaying trips? I feel like trips are a deathtrap in NL. You either win a tiny pot cuz no one has that card or you lose a big one because you are up against a full house or trips with a better kicker.

I get 67clubs in middle position in a very loose passive game. Two guys in front of me are in already so I call the 2 dollars. My buddy Dave calls behind me and there is a dead blind on the button. SB calls and BB checks.

7 people see the flop.

Flop comes J77 rainbow.

In my mind, I hear "ding ding ding!!!"

It is checked to me and I check along. Dave bets 5, button who posted his dead blind calls and it gets folded around back to me.

Dave and I are gay poker buddies so I know exactly what he has. QJ or maybe if I am off, he has J10. If he had a 7 he woulda checked as well trying to slowplay his trips on a rainbow flop with no straight draws.

I call the 5 dollars and 3 of us see the turn. Turn is 2. or some crappy blank. I check, dave checks, button fires out 20. Hmm.

In all honesty, I put no thought into what this 20 dollar bet coulda meant. I was oblivious to the fact he posted a dead blind and could have almost any 2 cards.

Of course I call the 20 thinking I have the best hand. Dave folds.

River is another blank. I think it might been a 3.

Some harmless card which I didnt think hurt me.

So I bet out 75 which put the button all in. I had like 350 in front of me.

He calls and flips over J7 for the flopped full house.

This was fun.

In hindsight, I shoulda realized he was a deadblind and coulda had anything.

Also I am losing to J7, 27, 37, 87, 97, 107, as well as JJ, 22, 33, etc.

The only hand with a 7 in it that I coulda beat were 47 and 57. Split with 67.

What do you all think of checking the river and calling the buttons bet rather than betting into the button?

In general, I almost never slow play trips if I am late position but if I am early with a few people behind me I will probably check my trips.
