Tough spot. If I knew how to play these with any certainty, I think I'd have a MUCH bigger BB/100. As it stands, playing overpairs is easily something I think to be my biggest weakness at this level.

I'd have tried to 2/3-3/4 pot it on the turn (maybe $70 or so) to look a bit more serious... or check-call the turn and river.

It's hard to put him on 65... but that almost seems like the most likely hand to me. That or QQ. I'd think KK or AA might try to sneak in a raise preflop so I'd be tempted to rule them out. And it's clearly not some kind of flush draw semibluff. Now that I think about it, something like A8s might also be a possibility.

That said, I fold.

Fold and pay close attention to how Button plays for a while. Make him pay in the future for making these plays if it is a play, and don't let him break your balls on this hand with a PF smooth-called AA-QQ (88 or 77 may be possibilities here).

Fold unless hes a chronic bluffer. He either has a set or flat called your raise preflop with a bigger pair than yours.

thanks for the posts. i folded (primarily cuz i ran out of time and that is my default/it was too much to put in on one pair). anyone think a suited connector hitting two pair is a possibility? two pair would need a lot more protection than a set (bottom card pairing, me hitting trips, etc) and would justify such a large raise. the bet, while close to pot sized, is a huge raise for the 2/4 on party and i had a feeling he reaally ddin't want a call. my read wasn't good enough, however, to justify losing 400 more (i wouldn't call then fold to any bet on the river, obviously). if hes a mark and keep making these plays with tptk ill get him eventually

There's just no point in risking so much when you have no way of putting villain on a hand. He can have absolutely anything here, and you'd rather pick better spots.
