Default Why isn\'t Party Poker archived by google?

Why isn't Party Poker archived by google?

The only way I can see this happening is if Party asked them to not archive the site. PartyPoker.net is archived, so I guess this is to keep in line with the US authorities. But don't those laws just govern advertising? Google archives Pokerstars.com, etc.

I don't understand, it just seems a bit dumb of PartyPoker.

http://partypoker.com/robots.txt

This is an automated way of telling search robots to not archive their site. Don't know why they're doing it, though.

I'll take a stab at it...

I'm sure Party has pages published (and I've personally seen some) that are out of date or not intended for public view.

A spider would find these pages and create direct links to them. The better question would be why does Party keep old pages still published?

No, you can use the robots.txt file to stop certain pages being archived, so they could still make sure the front page is archived, and nothing else.

It still doesn't add up. If Party was archived by google, it would not take long (I figure) for them to rise to the top of a generic "Poker" google search. This has to be worth $$$$, even to a company as rich as Party.
