Default Pokerchamps 100% Deposit bonus

OK, so I get an email that PokerChamps is offering a 100% deposit bonus up to $100.

Here's what their webpage says about clearing the bonus, anyone care to explain this to me in English. I am particuarly concerned about what it means when they "for each raked hand you play". Do you have to just be dealt cards or contribute to the pot?

"The first real money deposit you make on PokerChamps, during a Deposit Bonus Period, will be credited an extra 100% in bonus up to a maximum of US$ 100.

E.g. deposit US$ 30 and get an extra bonus of US$ 30 credited to your account. Deposit US$ 50 and get US$ 50 and so on, up to a total of US$ 100.

The bonus is split in ten portions and released every Friday to your account in the amount of the portion you reach.

If you deposit US$ 100 you will get a US$ 100 bonus split in ten portions of US$ 10 each.
For each raked hand you play you will receive 50% of your rake in that hand towards the next portion of the bonus. Depending on how much you play some of that 50% will be paid directly to your account as part of our normal CashFlow Bonus and the rest will be paid towards the next portion of your deposit bonus.

If you contribute US$ 40 in rake in one week you will get 20% (=US$ 8) of your rake paid directly to your account and another 30% (=US$ 12) paid towards the next portion of your deposit bonus. Since the deposit bonus is split in US$ 10 portions you would get a total of US$ 8 + US$ 10 = US$ 18 paid to your account the following Friday and you would already have earned US$ 2 of your next US$ 10 portion of the bonus for next Friday.

You will simply not find a faster bonus pay out anywhere else on the net!

The Account page of the Cashier will show you how much of your deposit bonus is pending and how much will be paid next Friday based on your current rake contribution.

Pending Deposit bonus Dollars can of course not be cashed out, transferred or otherwise traded or used for buy-in or purchase of any products or services at PokerChamps or elsewhere. "

Sounds pretty complicated.

The 50% part pretty much sucks. Party pays well over 100% of your rake back, assuming you're playing low-limits, and Stars pays 100%. UB pays something close to that.

I wouldn't go out of my way for this, especially since it sounds like it takes at least 10 weeks to clear. You can usually clear a Party bonus in a matter of days.

This is a little less complicated than it seems, just how they count contributed rake is a little funny there. Your contributed rake each hand is the amount of the rake divided by what percentage of the pot your contributed. So if the blinds played heads up and maxed the rake they would both get a $1.50 rake contribution and would get half of this back. I believe pokerchamps has the lowest rake on the net (not sure) becasue they rebate a portion of the rake every Fri.

This is complicated, but to put it a nutshell the recent Party reload bonus was about 5 times more favorable than this deal, as best I can tell.

Now let me put you to sleep by explaining how I calculated that.

As I understand it, they already offer everybody 20% rake back, so this offer is for an additional 30% rakeback until the total reaches $100. So, you have to win enough hands (or contribute enough to the pot, depending on which way they measure your rake - I would guess they say whoever won the hand paid the rake) for them to rake $333 to earn the $100.

Now, giving EVERYBODY 20% rakeback is really just a roundabout, marketing-gimmicky was of having their rake be about 20% less than stated. So, the real rakeback percent in this bonus should be calculated as 30/80 or 37.5%.

Now compare the party reload bonus. To do this, we have to make some assumptions - a bunch, in fact, and I've pretty much pulled numbers out of the air. But I did it several different ways and its almost impossible to make the Party bonus look worse and still have reasonable looking assumptions. But try it for yourself and see.

Party gives you $1 for each 7 raked hands. Playing .50/1, you'll have to play about 10 total hands to get 7 raked ones. If your VPIP is in the low 20s, you'll contribute something to the pot in 3.5 hands out of every 10, and your average wager might be $5 and average win with a BB/100 of 3.0 is $5.10. Party rakes 50c of this. So, long story short, Party gives you $1 bonus for 50c rake, or 200%. Thats 5.33 times as big as 37.5%.
