I'm a dumb liberal

I'm a dumb liberal. I need to understand conservatives better. Not policy-- I know that you don't like government regulations and all that.

What I want to know is the history of conservatism. Where did it come from? I want to hear names of intellectuals and political leaders. Start where ever you think is important.

Please, no liberal responses. I want to hear the story of convervatism from conservatives.
