Vince McMahon should be in charge of the WSOP.

This may fall under #2, but an already famous person. If Ben Affleck wins, the media would eat it up. Or, Spider-Man, World Champ. Well, Wilford Brimley wouldn't be as exciting, but you get the picture.

An African-American could also be a huge story. And not necessarily Phil Ivey or any pro you currently know.

I would rig it so some slightly-overweight average-Joe looking hillbilly who bought in online for a pittance... and I'd make sure he had a catchy name like Moneymaker.

Anyone who believes that the 2003 WSOP was not totally rigged for MM to win it, and that the poker pro clique wasn't under orders to "let him win for the good of poker" is delusional.

I then asked, given that the event could not be fixed,

Whaddya mean ... we know that online poker is fixed, so why not the WSOP ME?

How about Devilfish v. Jesus ... that'd pick up a whole new demographic ... right wing Christians. Ratings would go through the roof!
