Default The board keeps getting worse - Q9o

Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed) converter

My stats for UTG are all from full ring. He is very loose/typical preflop. Postflop he is too loose and pretty aggressive. When confronted with river action he raises 14% (pretty high) and calls 34% (very low for such a loose player).

Preflop: Hero is BB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
UTG calls, 2 folds, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (3 SB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, UTG calls, SB folds.

Turn: (2.50 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, UTG calls.

River: (4.50 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero ???, ...

Check fold, or MAYBE check call. But I cant see what you can beat that he can bet, nor do I see how you can bet.

Wow, I dunno. Check/call? You said he's loose and pretty aggressive postflop so it doesnt look like he has much of a hand since he hasn't put in a bet anywhere. Looks like he either has it all or has none of it.

We can't bet/fold this against an aggro river player so I like check calling.

I vote for check fold. I mean after the fourth heart fell your only hope was that he held a pair of aces now that has you beat. I really don't see villan folding and I don't see him having a hand that you beat enough in this smallish pot.

Wouldn't this guy raise the turn with a medium/big heart and raise the flop with an A or Q? I think he's either gonna show you the K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] or a tiny heart or complete cheese. But you're right. The pot is smallish so I dunno how much that changes things.

this seems like a clear check/call to me. UTG's range of hands here is enormous, especially w/this sort of scary board. you'll be bluff raised on the river here by an aggressive player quite freequently, i'd suspect.

This doesn't make sense, even loose players fold with uber trash on scary boards. The scarier the board the narrower the range that the opponent will likely hold because the board is just as scary to them as it is to you.

I checked with no firm idea how I would react to a bet. I don't feel strongly about it but I am inclined to fold.

He checked behind with the counterfeited 97o and MHIG.

Although I haven't played SH in a while, I would probably checkfold this river. The pot is small, and you lose to any heart, any ace, and you are no better than a chop w/any queen. Your only real hope is that he called the flop and turn with 9x or some small PP, and that he will then will fire at this river. I certainly don't see this happening more than 20% of the time.
