Get him a pellet gun for the roosters so he can get some sleep.

Or the bottle of wine or some kind of really nice food/wine gift basket sounds good. Those can be pretty cool. Stay away from cookies and sweets, though, as some people just don't eat them.

Oh, and remember the penitentiary guideline: You're not gay if you're pounding ass, only if it's your ass getting pounded. So maybe there's a solution that works for both of you.

I vote for the restaurant gift certificate.

Not everyone likes wine. Everyone likes to eat.

You would say this. Maybe Red Robin with bottomless fries???

As for the reward, spontaniety would have been best, and maybe $100 or $200 would have been really cool. But now, I'd have to vote wine, especially a good bottle.

Someone else here had mentioned that you should ask around the building to see what he likes and go that route (not the "gay for a day" type either). This is probably the best course to take here.

A small gift wine or a free dinner sounds good. Put a short handwritten note in with it. Telling him how much you appreciate his honesty ect. get a chick to word it for you.

I would also make a point of telling other people that live in the building about his classy actions. Don't make a big deal out of it but if you happen to be talking to a person that lives in the building mention it.

When someone does something nice like this and does not want anything in return the least you can do is give him some good press. Then years from now when someone starts to pick on the gay guy. Or he asks to bend a rule like put up a few extra flower boxes or maybe they get mad at his dog for barking. There will be more people than just you willing to stick up for him.

You will be sticking up for him right?

I look at like a trade in sports. You owe him future considerations.

I'm certainly glad, I'm not important enough to get misquoted for real.

It's too bad you're not dropping by for the weekend, I'm sure he could use one your go-to shiny silver dress shirts.

I'm going with the $50 restaurant gift certificate. If I was certain that he drinks, I'd go with wine. I'll put a thank you card together as well.

Pretty classy move. Good suggestions all-round.

I guess I'm taking the safe route. The best play would be a Barry Manilow's greatest hits CD, Will and Grace Season 1 DVD, and fruitcake - but I don't have time for that.
