Checking after the 3-bet is strange, but I'd hate getting raised on the river. I check this behind with an overpair after getting bet/3bet on the turn.

Maybe he has AhKh or QQ, but if he's willing to go to war that hard on the turn with just a pair, he can have his free showdown on the river.
