Default vb or push, that is the question

reads-villain is a pretty donkish calling station that i have a good amount of history w/. he can limp preflop w/ any 2 and can call flop w/ a huge range.

50nl 6max
effective stack 22
dealt to hero 10 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]10 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

pre flop- MP limps, CO limps, Button limps, SB folds, hero checks.

flop (2.25)- 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
hero bets 2, 2 folds, Button calls.

turn (6.25)- 10 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
hero bets 3.5, Button calls.

river (13.25)-A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
hero...?

i was trying to price villain in on turn. i do think he will fold a bare 5 or a weak overpair here to a push, but will call a vb w/ them. he calls a push with Aces up+ if my read is right...

Hate it. Villian will check a hand that he'd call a value bet with, just to see a cheap showdown.

i didnt even think about this... i dont think he will bluff ever, but he will vb hands that should be checked behind and then call my push. do u think this is better than an open push?

Doh, you're right. Put the Big Sexy back in the box.

If he's a calling station, you don't have to work so hard to price him on the turn, although I understand the logic. If you'd bet more on the turn, you could have made a pot-sized push here. Bet sizing is an undervalued skill in SSNL, IMO.

As played, I bet $8. Consistent with your previous actions. Should be an autocall if he's got something half-decent. And maybe he pushes the rest with a flush. Weak calling station donks don't like to call all-ins in my experience. Bet $8, let him have a little left behind if he wants to call you.

I think a weak lead might be OK. Bet $5-8, expect villain to raise with his flush or horribly played A2 then BOOM.
