Default Shuffle tracking

This came up as a result of a "random deal" discussion on the Internet board.

Is shuffle tracking commonly used in B&M games?

As I noted in a post over there, it would seem like isolating the position of a key card (eg. an A) into the top third of the deck, and therefore into someones pocket, could be helpful in making a close calling decision.
