Default 2 pokerstars 15/30 hands from the BB

I thought I'd play a little limit. I used to play 5/10, then moved to tournaments and have had a lot of success there so far. Bored today so decided to jump into a 15/30 game.

CO is the same person in both hands. He is very active, involved in a lot of pots. Hand 1 might be pretty bad. Hand 2, a lot of draws didn't get there and I thought I could get a bluff out of him on the river?

How do you feel about these hands?

Hand 1:
PokerStars 15/30 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Hero checks, MP2 checks, <font color="#CC3333">CO bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, MP2 folds, CO calls.

Hand #1, I don't bet this river. I think you will see something like 55 or A7 much more often than AJ calling you on the river.

Hand #2, I play it the same way. I like the check-call on the river.

In Hand 1, do you check/call or check/fold the river? Is the play OK until then? I wasn't sure if it was right to call or raise preflop. Since I called preflop, I felt check/raising the flop and leading the turn was a good idea, but I'm not 100% sure why really. I guess he's not really going anywhere on the river since he called my turn bet.
