Default Do I bet the river here - JJ over pair -

New to the table so no reads on anyone.

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (8 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
2 folds, Hero raises, 3 folds, SB calls, BB 3-bets, Hero caps, SB calls, BB calls.

Should I always cap this? I wanted to try to get the SB out and I had position

Flop: (12 SB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, BB bets, Hero raises, SB calls, BB calls.

Turn: (9 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets, SB calls, BB calls.

River: (12 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks.

It looks like I missed a bet, since the board paired I dont have to worry about some other 2p. But I really had no idea what the blinds had. If it were heads up I would bet this but some reason I didnt against 2 people.
Just looking for some thinking behind checking or betting the river.

Final Pot: 12 BB

Results in white below:
Hero has Jd Js (two pair, jacks and threes).
SB has 9h As (two pair, nines and threes).
BB has Td Ts (two pair, tens and threes).
Outcome: Hero wins 12 BB.

1) don't include results

2) that was the perfect river for you. Play like it.

The way you played it, bet the river.

I like the PF cap, I don't like the flop raise. You'd be better off raising the turn if you have to find a raise somewhere, fold if villain 3 bets and hope for a free showdown unless you know villain will call with something like AK.

Don't include results in the first post.

I don't like capping against a re-raiser and one other opponenet. Many weak loose players will never fold once they put money into the pot preflop, so even capping will not get the hand heads up.

Flop raise is good. It protects your hand if SB is holding any overcards.

I think you can bet the river for value. SB isn't going to call you with a hand you can't beat. The only hand BB could call you with that beats you is QQ, most likely.

Why don't you like raising the flop?

I was forgetting he had 2 outs if he's behind, so he probably can fold the turn UI if villain 3 bets the flop, although villain is likely to 3 bet the flop with his tens and we wouldn't know we're ahead.

For some reason I was thinking he had 5 outs if he was behind and would have to call villains turn bet even if villain 3 bet the flop, and maybe the river as the pot would be so big.

With no reads, I just call the 3-bet PF - SB isn't going anywhere.

The flop raise is good - it lets you know how much BB still likes his hand, and maybe gets SB out.

Bet the river!

IMO the flop raise is very good. With a good hand that's vulnerable to any ace, queen, or king, Hero needs to put as much pressure on overcards possible, as soon as possible.

Every time you don't value bet the river, especially when you're holding an overpair that no one has opposed, God kills a kitten. This one might have cost the world two kittens.

Please...do it for the kittens.
