I've often felt very bad for all those girls who sit behind their boyfriends at poker tables. They always look bored out of their minds. Give her a few hundred and force her to sit and play 3/6 or something. She'll be ecstatic about it in a few hours, chicks love to gamble.

not planning on going on the 12 hour stints at the tables.. just a few hours here and a few hours there.

if anyone had a problem with it i'd just get up and go do something else.

i was told that most casinos won't have the low limit games on new years weekend, or that the lists will be insane. any info on this?

New years is not insane as most people think. I was there last year in the evening before the ball dropped and there were no lists. My GF lost about 200 on slots while i played, then went and had some $7 drinks. Where are you two staying? maybe we can swap. My gf is a 6 or a 7, depending on your perspective.

lol - these replies are great guys, i appreciate them all!

she actually has an interest in poker, but doesn't know a whole lot about the game.

i think it'd be good if she either sweated me for a little while, or if i could convince that it's ok to lose $100 and have fun at a 2-4 or 3-6 table. although she can be super-shy so i dont know how well she'd handle it.

and canis - sorry, cant trade. this one is a keeper!

If she's interested then have her sweat you! I missed that in the first couple of posts. That is fantastic. Be sure to talk her through whats going on and bring some $$$ to stake her. After a bit switch seats and let her play for a while and answer her questions.

I was at a 3/6 table with an obviously wealthy guy and his trophy wife. She sweated him for a while (which was fine because she was a joy to watch). Then they switched ... and she was a better poker player than he was.

Hope it works out well for you!

I dont see how any person, if it was a friend, girlfriend, parents, etc, would want to sit next to someone when they were playing at a poker table for hours upon hours. Its ok to watch along to see the action, but for hours of a day in a poker room? Just dont see why someone would do it.

The spa idea is a good choice.

Don't do it!!! She won't enjoy it (I call the women obediantly sitting behind their men 'taliban wives') and if she is bored and looking to do something fun, it will kill your fun.

Most of the hotel/ casinos in A/C have spas. Even if you don't want to pop for a massage you can get her access to the health club and pool. Have her bring a book and sit by the pool. Maybe she'll get lucky and you can squeeze in an extra hour if someone else handles the messy stuff.

If she's interested in poker at all, get her an account on Stars and transfer her 10 bucks to try out the .02/.04 games. That's what I did with my girlfriend, and she built it to a four figure bankroll. Now, she loves to take casino trips. I usually split my time between playing 3/6 or 4/8 with her and playing higher separately.

I would imagine that this would be ten times worse than watching a no camera tournament. One, you're stuck there until he is done playing and two, you can't change the channel.
