Default Good birthday gift for my father

I'm heading over to the bookstore in about an hour and could use some suggestions for a book for my father. It's his birthday today. He's a republican and a strong christian so I might be looking to the politics or religion section of the bookstore. He's also a big history buff.

As far as Fiction books he likes authors like Koontz and Patterson. Any suggestions from you OOT fellas.

What's his ancestral homeland (if there's a specific one). How about a history of that country?

errr, that was a bad suggestion,huh...

Seriously, some history of Germany from roman times to now would be a cool gift maybe (don't mention the war)

No I think that was a good idea. I'll definately look into that. He's Catholic so maybe something on the history of the Catholic church. Though that might be just as bad, but a good read nonetheless.

Thanks, I'll look this book up. Saw the reviews on Amazon and it looks promising. Thank you.
