Default Atlantic City - Friday Afternoon?

I am going to be going to Atlantic City on Friday afternoon (and evening), and was wondering what poker rooms you felt would provide the best 1-2 NL games in the afternoon, before some of the rooms begin to fill up a bit more.

I went a few weeks ago, and went to the Tropicana around 4:00. The game was alright. Except for one Borgata dealer who was pretty aggressive, the action on the table was pretty tame.

I was figuring on probably playing at the Tropicana the whole day, but I figure the Taj Mahal might have some better games. I'd love to play at the Borgata, but the last time I went, the wait list was ridiculous on a Saturday afternoon, and they weren't opening any new tables. I suppose it might be better on a Friday, but I also figure the 1-2 NL Borgata games might contain tougher players in the afternoon, before all of the city-types come for the weekend.

What do you all think? I've never played in Caesars new room, so any comments on that would be appreciated. Thanks!

The quick answer: every room has 1-2NL running every hour of every day, and it's always juicy. Occasionally you find a rocky table, but they're the exception.

You may see lots of debate over the nuances of a particular room's dealers, players, chips, cards, tables, chairs, waitresses, ambiance or action, but what it all boils down to is 1-2NL is everywhere all the time and there's money to be made. If you're not making money it's not your choice of casino that's the problem.

Mman710,

All of the casinos spread "good" $1-$2 no limit games. It depends what you want to experience while your playing poker. If you want a nice quaint feel, visit the House of Blues at the Showboat. If you want elegance, visit the Borgata. If you want good action filled games with wanna be Rounders types, go to the Taj Mahal. If you want to experience a card club environment go to the Trop.

I would suggest visiting all of the card rooms to see what Atlantic City truly has to offer.

Enjoy yourself and post a trip report.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I didn't realize that all the rooms would likely have 1-2 games going, though it does make sense. I have been to the Tropicana, Taj Mahal, and Showboat before. I also played limit at Bally's, and I was at the Borgata, but the wait list was too long, so I left.

I will probably end up just going to the Tropicana, since that's probably my favorite card room. The Showboat room is nice, but for some reason, I've never liked playing in a half-full/empty room. The Tropicana is always pretty busy, and I like the atmosphere. I don't like the Taj Mahal as much, for many of the reasons a lot of other people criticize it. However, I've played there before, and don't really mind it.

I will post a trip report after I get back.

I played 1/2 NL at Caesar's Atlantic City Sunday morning at 1:00 A.M., and I was horrified how bad the play was. (And there was an eighty person list for the same game in Borgata). I would say there were twenty tables going, all low limit poker though (2/4 and 3/6 limit, 1/2 NL).

Depending on when you arrive Friday, you should note that Resorts Poker Room only runs two shifts on Friday. I think that they open at 2pm

I was at Borgata last Fiday afternoon around 2:30. Wait lists were starting but very low for the 1/2 nl (4 tables running) and 2/4 and 3/6 limits. 2:00-3:00 seems to be the time when the lists start. Interest lists were started for the high limits. After around 4:00 the lists get rather long.
