You may be right about Tommy receiving grief. But he does get a lot of leeway on hands where he plays passively when out of position, e.g., not raising with AK from the blinds. Again, I am a big Tommy fan, so I don't want it to seem like I am criticizing him at all. My point is that certain people are able to post hands that they play in non-2+2 standard ways, without being told that their play is so clearly wrong that their post doesn't belong in a High Stakes forum.

As for how bad your play was, here is what Sklansky said on p. 76 of "Poker, Gaming & Life": "Eight players have called before the flop and you are in the blind. You should raise with two nines or two aces in the pocket but probably not with two jacks or two queens...The problem is that it is much harder for these pairs to win by themselves if you give your hand away and double the pot size, especially in early position."

Of course, Sklansky's example uses 8 limpers instead of 5, and you will win less often vs. a larger field, but you are also giving up your share of 3 more small bets by not raising pre-flop.
