Does anyone think that their Dell 2001fp is too small?

I just wanted to get a few opinions because Im planning on buying a new monitor soon so I can 4 table. I know how much everyone here loves the Dell 2001fp. However, Im still debating between that monitor and the 2045fpw. The reason Im consdering the 24" monitor is because my eyesight is quite poor and Im just worried that I will have to strain to see certain things like the amount of money in the pot, for instance.

Would it be beneficiary for someone with poor eyesight like myself to bump up to the larger screen? Or will the difference in terms of size be negligible? Does anyone here have trouble viewing the details on their 2001fp's while multitabling?

i though mine was small when i four tabled but only for a day or two. I adjusted very quickly and now love it - I actually have 2 so its double nice!!

One thing you need to factor in is the fact that the 2405FPW is a widescreen monitor which means the 24" of the 2405 doesn't compare directly with the 20" of the 2001FP. The monitor size is a diagonal measurement and obviously the widescreen will have a longer diagonal on a comparable normal screen. I'm sure there is an algebraic equation to figure out the exact screen real estate we are talking about. But a lot of the size difference is because the 2405 is 4.5" wider and not nthat much taller. I would think size difference is negligible and definitely not worth $300 or $400.

Another thing, if price is no object and size is a great concern you can try a getup like this and have one table on each screen:

I read a post (not on 2+2) that listed this equation, but I can't find it. oh well. anyway, the tables are certainly bigger on the 2405fpw, but not that much bigger. what you can do a bit easier on a 2405 is 6 table (with a bit of overlap)

I'm starting to doubt that the tables would be bigger on the "larger" screen. I found the equation for calculating the sides of a triangle. And after running some rough calcualtions based on the dimensions Dell has listed that 3rd side of the "triangle" may actually be slightly larger on the 2001FP which means in no way can the tables be larger on the 2405FPW. The calcualtions are obviously flawed to the extent that the width includes the case but the fact that it comes out so close would tell me the size difference is not existent and you are better off getting the 2001FP unless, like the others mentioned, you want an extra 350 pixels wide for "other things."

Thats an interesting option Schwartz and one that I had not previously considered.

Is it necessary to buy all the monitors at once? Or would it be possible for me to start out with just two 20" monitors (buy two 2001fps for instance) and then maybe purchase two additional monitors down the road and configure a setup similar to the one in the link you provided?

Price is an issue, but I have just enough available money right now to buy either one 2045fpw or maybe two 2001fps. I dont plan to play anymore then four tables at a time so if I did get two 20" monitors it would probably be with the intention of configuring a quad setup sometime in the future ie one table/screen.

If the tables wont be much larger with the 2045fpw then I dont really see the sense in buying one.

Any other comments are still welcome, particularly from those who own a 2045fpw or have tried both. I just want to have a good idea of what to expect if Im going to shell out between 500-1000 dollars.

You can buy the monitors one at a time. They sell stands separately to accomodate them I just used that link to provide a picture...

If you went with 1 table per monitor you could also try smaller monitors. 17 or 19 running at 800x600 would provide quite a large table, not as big as a 2001FP displaying one table in 800x600 but using the smaller monitors might actually be more efficient or optimal and will be much cheaper. You could probably get 4 17" LCDs for around the $1000 you mention. It's not like it has to be Dell.

One thing you might want to figure out first is how large does the table need to be to satisfy your eyesight?
