[ QUOTE ]
I agree, it is pretty unreasonable to expect the leader of the free world to have at least a high school level grasp of the English language. Gansters in the hood speak the same level of English, why should we expect more from the Yale educated President?

[/ QUOTE ]
Many people like Bush's lack of speaking ability because it makes them feel that he is a "common man". I am definitely not one of these people.

Yes, Billy Bob down at the gas station has the same non-existent speaking ability, but I don't think I would really be comfortable with his fingers on the nuke-lur button, or have the ability to send troops into combat whenever old Jimmy John down at the bar feels like it.

[ QUOTE ]
They (our enimies) never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

[/ QUOTE ]

The alleged statement can imply one of two different things ( i don't doubt that he said it, I'm just too lazy to check):

A)...and neither do we ever stop thinking of new ways to harm our own country and our own people.

B)...and neither do we ever stop thinking of new ways to harm our enimies.

If you're on the far left, well then it just HAS to be a Freudian slip, and that deep down (on an unconscious level) he must really have meant option 'A.' The rest of us read the statement, laugh at the thought of Bush meaning to imply option 'A,' then get on with our lives.

Default Chuck, You\'re Post Is A Lie

[ QUOTE ]
At the signing of $417 billion defense bill Bush said:

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

Sure it was probably a slip of the tongue, but most such slips are grounded in reality.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm not defending the statement, obviously it was a poor choice of words.

That being said, "Bush Admits Harming America" is a pure lie.

Based on that quote, Bush never admitted harming anyone or anything.

"They never stop thinking about new ways to harm...", along with "and neither do we." Nobody is actually DOING any harming, they are thinking about it.

If your post was titled "Bush Admits THINKING About Harming America", you might have a case. But instead, your post is just a lie.

If your going to pick on the guy, there's plenty of material that is good enough as it is. It should be shooting fish in a barrel, but you seem to be having some trouble with it.

Edit: Since it is a clear distortion of the truth, I was going to report it to the moderators... oh hell, what's the use.

My guess is that Bush meant that we never stop looking for ways our enemies might attempt to harm America (so that we can take preventive countermeasures). Our enemies are looking for chinks in our armor, and so should we be, if we are to employ a proper defensive strategy.

Sure, he obviously meant that or something similar. That doesn't excuse the sloppy wording. The leader of the free world should not make ambiguous statements (unless that is the point of the statement of course.)

I guess that rules out Kerry:
"I actually voted for the $87 billion before I voted against it"

I'm by no means a Bush partisan (or a Kerry one), but do you really want to give a pass for intentional ambiguity in favor of unintentional? I mean, what Bush said was a slip of the tongue (albeit a common one). The typical political double-speak is used to avoid responsibility. The latter is certainly the greater evil.

The wording was quite sloppy indeed.

Chuck,

I made a minor slip of the toungue, obviously my actions as President are more important than how slick a speaker I am.

Lets get back to important things, like the proper use of corn.
