Default Damn it feels good to be a gangsta

I feel the need to crank out that Geto Boys tune every time I have a hand like this...

FYI, this is why you can beat Party 1/2 sixmax. You dont win by forcing people out of pots. You win by making value bet after value bet, no matter how thin.

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
UTG calls, MP calls, CO calls, Button calls, Hero raises, BB calls, UTG calls, MP calls, CO calls, Button calls.

Flop: (12 SB) K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (6 players)
Hero bets, BB calls, UTG calls, MP calls, CO calls, Button folds.

Turn: (8.50 BB) K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 players)
Hero bets, BB calls, UTG folds, MP calls, CO calls.

River: (12.50 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players)
Hero bets, BB folds, MP folds, CO folds.

Final Pot: 13.50 BB

Results in white below:
Hero has Js Jd (two pair, kings and jacks).
Outcome: Hero wins 13.50 BB.

How is this particular instance a value bet if they all fold? Or maybe you mean it has value over the long run.

Lol. This is my victory song when I win a tournament. I love how the first verse goes "A real gangsta ass nigga plays his cards right".

I mean the value bets on the flop and turn.

The river is a thin value bet because a 9 or an 8 could still calldown. I've seen it happen.

Yes a 9 or 8 could call, but into 3 other players? I stink at SH, but I dislike betting this river.

There is no way I can checkcall this river. People can have draws of anything, or an 8 or 9. There's 12.5BB's.

If the pot's any smaller I'm more likely to checkfold.

I like the value bet better than a check/call for sure, and I think it's better than a check/fold here because we're good often enough relative to the size of the pot. A 9, 8, or PP will call but not bet.

What would have been your action if the River got raised?

Fold, of course.

The money you make from the thin value bets exceeds the risk of getting raised on the river.

Besides, it's 1/2. People don't have the smarts to use metagame and bluff raise me on the river. Nobody ever bluffs on the river in 1/2.
