Hero bets and hope he doesn't get raised

EDIT: I assumed a low-limit game but saw now it's 15/30. I would still bet and fold to a raise but I'm only a marginal winner at 15/30.

Default The Inessa

FOLD "THE INESSA" PREFLOP. EVEN SUITED.

What are hoping to flop? Trips? A goof ball open-ended straight draw or flush draw?

IMO, you are too. I think I'd muck this unless there was another limper or two.

Default Is this really a preflop muck???

Wow,

Is 15/30 *that* much different?

We've got 2 MP limpers already in, Hero is on the button with Q9s, and you guys recommend mucking preflop?

I'm asking in all seriousness... please explain.

What about some of the "more experienced" posters??

The preflop call is fine.

I would bet the turn and probably fold to a raise, although at the 15/30 folding to a raise may be too weak. I won't pretend to know since I've never played it. But I really don't see any advantage to checking the turn as opposed to betting.

The limpers could have hands like KJs, QJs, KTs, QTs, even KQo, 55,66,77,88, all hands we are either behind or way behind. Even if they are in there with total trash, there are many hands that we will play in a day. Why push a tiny edge? Part of winning is not losing.

Calling pre-flop is better than folding.

You don't really mean this, do you?

Why push tiny edges? Because they're edges. You should push all of them. Playing to "not lose" is incredibly weak/tight.

And more specifically, this limp is fine if the table is too loose, unless the blinds are known aggressives.

It's close, sure, but it's certainly not a huge mistake, and if our hero plays well enough postflop...

and our hero should definitely bet the turn.

No. Some people play too tight though so they may be folding this here.
