I thought you quit?

After 40k+ hands, I've had several 200BB downswings, but nothing bigger. I usually play 3 tables at a time.

I think most likely you have some holes to fill if you are on a 400BB downswing.

"You do have to consider the possibility that you are not, in fact, a winning player and that you may have just been running very well."

i always keep this in the back of my mind. i consider it an out.

How can you possibly deal with that kind of swing? 400BB seems like way too much. No offense, but if that happened to me, I might quit for good. I'm going through nearly a 200BB downswing now over the last 7 weeks or so (for the 1st time) and it's absolutely destroying my confidence and mental health, even with nearly a $45,000 BR. If it was 400BB, I would not be able to withstand the emotional trauma. I definitely think losing begets more losing, and a streak like that must be making you play poorly, there's just no way around it. I don't care what people say, it's impossible to play without letting your emotions affect your judgement.

Yes there is. Study and learn self-discipline and self-mastery. Learn to emotionally detach yourself from the game, specifically the outcome of the game. Mental calmness is the key, very much similar to the Zen concept of emptiness.

I don't care what people say, it's impossible to play without letting your emotions affect your judgement.

You mean, it's impossible FOR YOU to play without letting YOUR emotions affect YOUR judgements.

Had 1 500BB downswing. At least 300 were tilted/steamed away. Take a break and read a book.

I think around 90% of 2+2ers would quit if they hit a 400bb streak. Hence Mason saying 'it takes 3 years to know if you have what it takes to be a pro'. For everyone saying 'YOU MUST HAVE HOLES' they are clearly wrong, simple math shows you that this is possible and will happen if you play long enough. Yes, you do probably have holes anyway but winner players have these streaks. Astro and I have both had 300bb+ (400bb for me) losing streaks.

For me it doesn't bother me. I've lost $10k in 20 minutes of 100/200 ended my session and had a perfect nights sleep.

Most of the time after playing poker i don't even check the results, i don't care because i know my win rate and i know how much i earned for that one hour of playing regardless of how much i have won or lost in that hour.

400bb is not way to much to lose in the 15/30 at party. This game has the biggest variance i have ever known, 3 months ago the variance was less than 10/20 6m (per bb) and now it seems more. 20bb/100h variance for a 1bb/100h win rate means YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A 400BB LOSING STREAK. Welcome to poker. So you better mentally set yourself for when it comes.
