Default When to check behind vs. when to value bet....

5/10 NL - I have only seen Villain play one hand - he raised to $20 UTG+1 with KK -
flop came 3 A J r - he check/called $40 - turn was a K - he led for $100 and was minraised, he called, river was blank and he check-called $200. The other guy had AA so Villain's passive play saved him money here.

On to the hand...

Villain ($710) limps UTG I ($1200) raise on Button to $45 with AsKs

only Villain calls -

Flop ($105) 4c Ad Kc

I bet $80, he calls.

Turn ($245) 6h

I bet $145 - he calls.

River ($535) - 9d

Is this a clear value bet?

If so how much are you betting here?

I'd bet at least $300. If he has a set, so be it, but I'd guess he could have another Ax 2pair or a high ace. If you knew a bit more about him, I guess a check behind is possible - but I think you're leaving too much value against passive opponents w/ AQ, A4s, A6s, AJ, and maybe he even folds other AK?

I like $100. AQ or maybe AJ will usually give you a $100 call here.

Villian has shown he will come along, no reason to leave money on the table, $300 is much better.

200-250 looks good. Against passive stations a check behind would def be leaving money on the table.

I think you bet no less than 1/2 the pot here, which I think is standard. What about if you are raised? I think this is clearly a value bet but what range of hands would he re-pop it with?

Min bet that way he'll make a crying call with a pair of deuces or queen high.
