Default Nixon\'sFarewell Speech

Here

He doesn't admit any wrong doing, but does compliment himself over and over again for how hard he worked. Sick stuff.

The worst part, for me, was when he talked about Theodore Roosevelt's daughter dying, implicitly comparing TR's pain over that to Watergate.

I'd become so friggin disillusioned and sick by the time he made the speech I didn't even watch. I voted for him but I was just glad he was gone. I did feel sorry for Pat and Trish.

Jeeze, why'd you have to bring this out of the basement?

Default I Like Nixon

I like Nixon. As a president he was better than most democrat presidents. He was a foreign policy guru. He was the guy that helped split China from the USSR sphere of inflence. One of my beefs with Bush43 is his actions have pushed Russia and China into an alliance again.....undoing Nixon's work. Nixon inherited the Vietnam War from Kennedy/LBJ and Nixon got us out. Some people bitch about Nixon's secret bombing the Ho Chi Min trail in Cambodia but I think when you fight a war you should fight to win so I don't fault Nixon on this.

I think the watergate break-ins were WAY overblown. Nixon did nor order the break-ins but when he found out about them he tried to protect the instigators. Pardon me if I yawn. When it comes to political dirty tricks, the Dems still are the best and Repubs are the amateurs.

If you want to learn about the Watergate break-ins then read "Will" by G.Gordon Liddy. G.Gordon was the ring leader of the break-in. There is another book on watergate that G.Gordon recommends to find out the true story but its title escapes me now.

I'm showing my political ignorance, but what does the 43 stand for? I know it differentiates this Bush from his father, but what does the 43 stand for? Thanks.

meh. Probably, but I can't get past the wage and price controls.

I think the watergate break-ins were WAY overblown.

The break-ins themselves didn't do him in. The cover-up did. All Nixon had to do was go on national TV and admit responsibility despite not directly giving instructions. He'd have been chastised in the press but still would've beaten McGovern. Tragic flaw. He let his paranoia get the best of him.

read "Will" by G.Gordon Liddy

Awesome book. Especially the part about Liddy bugging the Warden's office while in he was an inmate at Danbury and nailing him for embezzlement.

I like Nixon

Excellent poker player.
