Default Tom McEvoy

how many tournaments has he won? I have heard that many people think he is the worst player to ever win the main event. was the PPT the first tournament he has won since the WSOP?

Who says this? Varkoni I thought held this dubious honor.

I saw it somewhere. it was actually a tie for mcevoy and varkonyi as worst world champs. I think I saw it on RGP maybe a year ago? I don't take rgp too seriously, which I why i'm asking here.

Tom McEvoy has won 3 other events other than his 83 ME victory (83 Limit HE, 86 Razz, 92 Limit Omaha)

Aside from Varkonyi, I hear some fairly unflattering things about Noel Furlong (99 champ)

As for you original question, aside from Varkoni

Varkonyi is by FAR the worst.

Nobody else is even close.

McEvoy is a decent player...

Try not to take this place too seriously, either.

This place is no different than any other DB in that there is a huge Lemming Factor. Witness the 8000 Alizee icons sprouting up. If Ed Miller uses Phyllis Diller as his icon next week and posts what a babe she is, half the board will have Phyllis Diller icons within 24 hours, and there will be dozens of polls proving she's the sexiest chick over 70. The same goes for who is not liked ("Who do we hate this week, again?")

Most members here--myself included--haven't been around poker long enough to know anyone prior to Varkonyi, aside from the "legends".

Anyway... I think either Daugherty or Fowler (I could be way off) is generally considered by poker pros/historians to be the most overrated and/or luckiest winner. Personally, I think Varkonyi gets a bad rap just because he's a total geek.

that adds to what so many people think he's the worst, but don't forget how lucky he got at that final table. it was ridiculous.

Alizee has been an internet icon for ages dude, she's got staying power, not some flash in the pan fad.

As an animated gif that is, not as a singer. Har har.
