Re: About EmigrantDirect savings account (stick with ING)
i was also deciding between these two and went with ING
i have yet to use either, but it seemed that ING was a bit cleaner and easier to use the rates can also fluctuate so just because there is a .35 difference now doesn't mean it will stay that way this difference is also not very substantial to me at this point |

Re: About EmigrantDirect savings account (stick with ING)
i never said i don't trust them -- just overall feel, i like ING better. ING is also a more well-reputed (not to mention well-financed) entity. LIke i said, they're both FDIC insured, so security should be a non-issue. I also like ING's customer service reps better, they've been very friendly with me.

Have you set up your checking account to be linked to your emmigrant direct account yet? Emmigrant direct will make a small deposit into your checking account to verify it. Has this occured yet? |

Is that code still working? It looks like that thread was axed over at fatwallet..... [/ QUOTE ] hmmm, not sure. It worked for me when I set up an account last week. And it was supposed to be good until the end of the year. Not sure why the FatWallet thread got deleted. |

THe $5,000 that i used for my initial funding deposit is showing up just fine...but i've decided to go with ING, so i want to withdraw it all, but i don't have that external transfer button you do. I'd call them, but i have my jaw wired shut for 3 weeks guess it will have to wait. |

[ QUOTE ] I have an Emigrant account and don't understand why you don't trust them. They are an excellent, higher interest alternative to ING (I think 3.15% vs 3.5 is pretty substantial) [/ QUOTE ] Could you speak to some of Teddy's points about the interface design and the customer service turnaround? I am going to open an account at one of the two, and the comments in this thread have me leaning towards ING. [/ QUOTE ] The snail mail does take about 2 weeks to arrive but it does not take another 3 days to register like Teddy said. I didn't mind the extra wait nor do I care about pretty grahpics or how well known my company is. My concerns are the interest rate, decent customer service and a functional website all of which emigrant has. |
