smoothe call all day.

its a rainbow board, nothing too threatening like an A or a K unless he has QQ but you would figure it out pretty soon if he had that.

smoothe call the flop and now you have position on him. if he bets the turn now you raise the pot. if he checks you bet 1/3rd of the pot.. possibly more to induce a bluff and show "weakness".

you have to get max value for sets, especially when there are high cards on the board that you think may have helped your opponent to make the 2nd best hand.

When I have position with the best hand and the pre-flop raiser leads into me with a pot-sized bet I'm calling and seeing if he'll do it again on the turn. I want him pot-committed before I raise.

Problem with smooth calling here imo is you are playing a guessing game if an A,10, or K hits. Additionally, people don't expect you to play sets this fast in this spot. I prefer a raise, but smoothcalling is not so bad either.

If I smooth call and a 10, Q or K or A hits, now my hand is severely weakend. Plus, then I'm even less sure of where I stand. When you consider this, and the likelyhood of AA/KK either a) calling my flop re-raise or b) pushing, I think my re-raise was +EV.
