I've played with the Villian before, and he seems like a pretty good player (after the hand he revealed himself as at least a lurker and occasional poster here)

Difficult hand.

I'd suggest after being check raised like that on the turn that you check behind on the river. Perhaps I am a donk though, I just don't see your 2 pair beating many hands that villain would be willing to check the flop and turn with the intention of check-raising.

I would think the majority of the time you will get shown 45s here and sometimes deuces or treys for a boat/quads.

Anyways I think checking the flop is fine to figure out how the other players are going to act and betting out the turn is smart as well. I'd call the check-raise from a player who I thought was awful but from a solid opponent who doesn't c/r with air into a multi-way pot I might just puke in my mouth and muck my cards. That could be the old hindsight is 20/20 thing though or my weak-tightness coming into play.

Anyways, calling the c/r isn't that awful but I really think you have to check behind on the river and if you bets you should just muck your hand when he check raises all in.

Agreed. I can only surmise he was worried about the kicker, but in a limped pot Hero's probably best.

I like the push reraise. Villain could be slowplaying a wheel or set, but it's pretty unlikely. Chances are very good you're getting chips in with the best hand.

I like the half-pot bet. Not sure about calling the push. You're getting about 2:1, but the SB could well have a trey. That would make his turn raise a gutsy semibluff, unless he made eights up, now treys full. That's tough though.

Is it consensus to call the push? If so, what probabilities would we assign for Villain's possible hands: "total bluff", "trips or better", etc.?

When he checked the river, I actually put him on A2.

Very few players try and checkraise the river with big hands becasue 90% of players will just check behind here.
