I'm not sure all the posters making the juvenile and idiotic posts are necessarily young. Stupidity can look like immaturity at almost any age.

"I do think an "Over-50" forum would have a lot less posturing, backbiting, misquoting, one-upmanship, partisanship, name-calling and sundry other undesirable behaviors. I think there would probably be a lot to talk about--without having to wade through numerous juvenile pissing contests. In short, there would be a lot more wheat and a lot less chaff."

Like 64 year old Dick Cheney telling Senator Patrick Leahy to "Go F**K himself" on the floor of the Senate? (Average age 64+ and we know 'posturing, backbiting, misquoting, one-upmanship, partisanship, name-calling and sundry other undesirable behaviors' doesn't occur there)

If I remember correctly we had a follow on thread or perhaps in the same thread (my memory is going) we came up with a name for the 'over 50 forum' - I think Phat Mac came up with Curmudgeon Corner and by fiat I declared it the winner.

A Curmudgeon Corner forum would be great and probably should be open to all, but the 'over 50 crowd' should insist on keeping all the younsters out. Why? For the very simple, and immature reason, of being annoying, exclusive, and petty. Three things us old farts can still excel at.

I don't think you are going to have to worry about Dr Wogga anymore.

this is a terrible idea -

first off, anyone who wants to read and post will still be able to create troll accounts and get in.

but also because no good is served by the old severing themselves off from the young - everyone ALWAYS thinks the younger generation does it wrong compared to them....remember all you 60's hippies? - you were once that goddamned loudmouthed degenerate to the establishment.

Keep it one fourm.

I'm just asking for the noise level to be turned down as it really has been getting too high lately.

Define noise. And how do you determine it's "too high?"
