Default Are they doing a WSOP player of the year again this year?

If so does anyone have a link to the current rankings?

This is based on Cardplayers ranking system, not Harrah's. It may not be accurate, but will give you a decent idea.

Yeah I found this, but like the other guy said this is using the Cardplayer ranking formula and what they used last year for the WSOP. The big difference being that you must reach the final table to recieve any points in this system, so 10th in a 250 person event gets points while the 11th place person in a 2500 person field gets nothing.

I did see some sort of POTY system and standings in one of Mike Paulle's blogs. Players earn points for making the money depending on how they finish.

EDIT: Here's a link to how the points are calculated: http://www.pokernews.com/news/2005/0...-year-race.htm

On the Pokernews link, it mentions that it includes the 5 WSOP Circuit 10k buyin events

Here's the standings as of June 16 from http://www.pokerpages.com/blog/index.php?itemid=531:

285 Freguson C 1
263 Violette C 2

Daniel N said it best, the player of the year will be the guy/girl that finishes in 30th place the most.

He said that but its not really true. There are already multiple name pros with 2 final table appearances, there is no reason to think one of them won't get a 3rd or 4th. (In Daniel's defense he said that when the events had all been 800+ players ... many of the middle events have been 200-300 people)

And thanks for the links Kevmath.
