Default Who decides first, straddler or poster?

Situation: some guy's been away from the table and posts both blinds in the CO. UTG sees this and decides to straddle. CO now decides he doesn't want to post if UTG is going to straddle. UTG then says he doesn't want to straddle if CO isn't going to post...

Alternatively, you could construct the same sort of situation with multiple posters, or someone choosing to take the big blind contingent on a particular person posting, etc. Is there a standard way to deal with this situation?

Kick both parties in the nuts and move on.

I see no issue with the CO poster pulling back his BB so long as no cards are dealt.

Why would someone seated in the cutoff want to pull back the post in this situation? You're going to post eventually to start playing hands again, and this situation is better than waiting and posting with slightly worse position and with less blind money in the pot.

I can agree with that, but what about the straddler? Once the CO pulls back the post, can the straddler take it back?

I would think not.

I don't think your allowed to retract a post once you've made it. I think the CO can either continue or fold and lose his post.

I got it.

Kick them BOTH in the nuts.

Then call the next two names on the list. "two seats open"

In a 4/8, it will now cost him at least $10 to see the flop, guaranteed. If there is no straddle, it will cost him $6.

Sure, there is $8 more blind money in the pot, but the CO poster has to put an additional $4 to chase it.

god damnit people are [censored] idiots. i normally think kicking in the nuts is going a bit too far, but these guys should be hit with blunt objects right on their right ball.
