the stakes were just a $30 buy in.

and I assume that the fold pre flop was a joke considering I was in the BB. but I agree that is the only way out of this hand...

At what stakes would you play it differently, and how would you play it at said stakes?

Stakes don't matter, your opponents matter, and your odds matter. You want the guy with 8/8 sticking around EVERY time you play this. You are about an 88% favorite to win the hand on that flop.
