2 dollar limit game-1 hr seat fee of $10 5 dollar limit game-1 hr seat fee of $15 5/10 limit game-1 hr seat fee of $15 Tournaments are as follows: $50 buy in-$15 goes to charity $100 buy in-$30 goes to charity $150 buy in-$45 goes to charity in single table games-top place gets 50%, 2nd 30%, 3rd 20% in four table games-1st 50%, 2nd 15%, 3rd 10%, 4th-8th 5% Anyone see anything interesting? in four table games the disparity between 1st and 2nd is very large. |

Rape pure and simple. I grew up in Clevetown btw. People must be desparate for live action there.

Re: cleveland charity poker-are the seat prices too high?
You left out some critical info on this.
For the ring games THERE ARE NO SMALL BLINDS. This is pretty interesting...so for every 10 hands at the $2 table, you are saving $1 and either $2 or $3 at the $5 and $5/$10. Also, there is no rake at all. Usually these events have near criminal rakes. I think for the $5/$10 game, you'll end up almost better than you could get at a casino. $15/hour and no SB and no rake. You'll be saving almost half of that seat fee in blinds and I'm sure if you win a pot or two, the rake would take you well over the $15/hour. The really weird part of it are the $2 and $5 games. The bets during these rounds are ALWAYS $2 and $5 respectively. They don't double on the turn and river like they normally do. I expect these games to be VERY LOOSE preflop, so people will probably be justified to make calls on the turn or river that would be huge mistakes if the stakes were doubled. I certainly plan on checking them out since I refuse to drive all the way to Detroit from Akron just to play poker....Although I don't expect that much from them. The seat fees for the tournaments actually are better than what a lot of charity events will offer. THIS ISN'T A PRIVATE CASINO!!! They are charity events, expect to get screwed on the tournies and the $2 and $5 game. Like I said, I think the $5/$10 game could be pretty good given the structure. |

Wait, you're complaining about the rake being too high in a charity game?

I was a CWRU student for 5.5 years, so I can talk too. Mike Trivasano on 1100 is a big online poker fan and I am sure he is pushing this thing.
I have a feeling its going to be a disaster. The dealers nor the floor people are going to have much experince, if any. Expect plenty of bad floor ruling posts in the near future. Plus (I believe) its in the flats. It will attract the worst kind of people. On the no small blinds thing: That sucks! It will hurt but probobly not kill the action. |

The Flats are dead...it will attract people who want to play poker. I don't see too many degenerates showing up here. They tend to stick to the Akron Vegas Nights.
I don't see the action being hurt by the lack of small blinds. I fully picture the action to be extremely loose. I think the structure is stupid myself, but it will be interesting to see how it plays out. Anyone looking to make a lot of money probably should stay away from these, but if you are a decent player, you probably won't lose (at least much anyway) and it will be a change from starting in front of a monitor and playing. |

Also...
Yes, I agree that this probably will be a disaster. I believe that there will be a new crop of volunteers every week, so nobody will ever actually be experienced. I think that's a big reason why the rules are so simple. If people could take the game for what it is, then it would be fine. However, I picture a lot of stupid people getting angry just like they do in casinos with real dealers. |

[/ QUOTE ] You're actually only saving a fraction of that since the blinds are live. But as has been pointed out it's a charity game so obviously the rake/time charge or whatever will be high. |

It's high, but it's for charity. If it's a charity you support, go ahead and feel better for doing it (and make some more money while you're at it).
If it's a charity you don't care about, then it's really high. |
