Default top and bottom party 2/4 6 max

hero in bb with A7 (suits not important). villain on button, stack is 300. hero has him covered.

one limper, villan min raises to 8. hero in bb calls, limper calls.

flop ($26) A87 rainbow.

check to villain, who bets 50 into 26 pot.

what is hero's move?

unsure if villain is a winning player, but he has been above average in agressiveness since sitting down maybe 30 hands ago, but not absurdely so, if that makes sense. not a complete donk like me.

call to induce further bluffs? or call to see his turn action and decide from that point?

call to win the most from a hand that likely has 2 to 5 outs.

think about his hand range. it could be strong ace. it could be underpair. it could be no pair. think what makes the most money.

Call. At this point i'm putting him on A9 - AQ and you want to keep him involved. A raise here makes those hands wary and may shut him down the rest of the hand. I would probably lead the turn for 2/3 pot and see what he does from there.

Anyone think that the str8 draw is a possibility? IMO, that PF minraise represents pretty much anything playable.

i raised to 125. he thought for a while and called. it was a splint second reaction i needed to take a step back. i guess i just thought his bet showed weakness and if he wanted to bully i could bully too.

i put him in for his final 151 on the turn. he called.

i think my best line woulda been smooth call, either check call turn and lead river, or check raise turn if i feel my hand is best, as he is short and would have to come along.

turn was blank when i put him in, river was another 8. i cursed as i thought i was counterfeited and his kicker would play.

he tabled A8. odd flop bet, effective in this case as i never saw it coming.
