Statements ive been pondering..
How true do you guys think the following statements are:
When you are running hot, you win. When you are running cold, you lose. The fundamental difference between a good player and a bad player is that a good player wins more when running hot and loses less when running cold. |

Re: Statements ive been pondering..
I think mostly true. Sometimes I lost a lot when running bad though due to tilt and overplaying hands. AHA! I am not a good player! Sweet, I get it.

Re: Statements ive been pondering..
That is along the same lines of the phrase "Making the best of it" that I have seen more than once in 2+2 books.
Basically you can not will your cards to be better, so when you get the good cards you have to make the most you can with them. Also, the concept of a dollar not lost, is the same as a dollar made comes up a few times in 2+2 books. I think that the most common flavor of this, is when a passive player plays back at you on the turn and your holding Mid-Pair or sometimes even Top-Pair weak kicker. (I also apply this to preflop, when you see someone with less that 4 PFR raising, you know they have AA-TT or AK-AQ, possibly KQ), in this case unless there are lots of people already in I am tossing my AJ / AT, etc.) In my personal experience, very very rarely do I have a break even session, it is usually up pretty big or down pretty big, actually it is usually up decently, or down HUGE (up 30BB or down 50BB). I have really been working on not losing money lately, it is just as important as winning money, it is just much more read dependent. So, I agree!!! Margon |

I get a twinge of guilty satisfaction when it works. |

You talking good cards when you say running hot/cold? [/ QUOTE ] Kind of, you can have good cards (i.e AKs 5 times in a row) but still completely miss everything (i.e Oh look a 5h 6h 7h flop again...my Ad Kd is no good against these 4 opponents). I would class running well as actually having a number of hands worth showing down against your opponents, and also not being drawn out on when you have the best hand helps. |

[/ QUOTE ] lol i guess 'good' and 'bad' are a bit too broad..i suppose 'better and 'worse' would have been more accurate. But you see my point im sure |
