Default whole bunch of coins

I see that coinstar now offers no vig if you redeem coins for gift cards to certain retailers. I think starbucks, albertsons, hollywood video and maybe others are included. I don't rent from hollywood video, so that's out. I don't shop at albertsons much because I get mileage plus miles from safeway. do I really want ~500 bucks worth of starbucks credit? is the program really juice free?
I'm thinking of taking the time to separate my loose change into piles and giving everyone I know a $25 starbucks card for xmas. either that or piling it all into the car and heading to reno some weekend. too bad they don't take pennies and dimes in reno.

Why don't you just go to your bank? They should have a machine which will count the coins quickly for you (or at least be able to transfer it to another branch which does).

do they do this? I tried it a while ago (long time ago) with another whole bunch of coins and was told that they couldn't do it for me.

Many banks will not do this anymore.

Your bank sucks. I guess a lot of banks must be like that since Coinstar exists.

I've brought in large amounts of coins twice. Once it was close to $100 in pennies. The other time, it was mixed coins.

Go to your bank and have them count it. They will tell you one of two things:

1. That they don't even count the coins anymore. Too bad. This is total BS since they have the machine in there since they have to move change, to and from merchants usually.

2. They will have you roll it. This is also BS, since they count the coins out anyway.

I suggest that you respond to either of these questions with a not-so-idle threat that you want to cash out your account. Their laziness over a few minutes of work is terrible. In fact, I feel like some conflict soon, and I will go down to Wells Fargo myself. Maybe I'll do it on Saturday morning, so all of the old ladies in there can listen to me reaming out the manager. Plus, I will drink their free coffee and eat all of their sugar cookies, even though I hate sugar cookies.
