The original advice columnist "Dear Abby" (her daughter is writing the column now) real name is Esther Pauline Friedman Lederer.

Howard, is she related to you?

Unknown on the Dear Abby, but I imagine that many people know that Howard and Annie's father is Richard Lederer the linguist. He has written a lot of witty books on words and phrases and recently wrote an article on the pervasiveness of poker related words and terms in everyday usage. I'll see if I can find a link to it, as it was pretty interesting.
