Re: Is poker gambling?
[ QUOTE ]
I don't know that any other game lets you do that without getting banned from casinos. [/ QUOTE ] Only race and sports betting, and that's not a "game" per se. |

Re: Is poker gambling?
I don't know anything about those forms of gambling. I was thinking of table gaming in particular.

Re: Is poker gambling?
[ QUOTE ]
If poker is a gamble for the expert above, then the stock market must be a one wild crazy bet, by comparison with poker! [/ QUOTE ] Although the Stock Market may be riskier by definition, by definition, it's not gambling. (Admittedly, we may be into semantics here, though.) Similarly, Poker is, by definition, gambling, though the skill elements may make a +ev play for some. |

Re: Is poker gambling?
I believe the definition of gambling is, placing a wager on an outcome that is uncertain.
Because we dont know whether or not the Ace of spades is coming on the turn, poker is gambling. |

Re: Is poker gambling?
Please tell your friend that he is correct. Poker is NOT a game of skill. Spread the word, far and wide. |
