Bravo, University of Kansas
It's about time.
"A course being offered next semester by the university religious studies department is titled "Special Topics in Religion: Intelligent Design, Creationism and other Religious Mythologies." "The KU faculty has had enough," said Paul Mirecki, department chairman. "Creationism is mythology," Mirecki said. "Intelligent design is mythology. It's not science. They try to make it sound like science. It clearly is not." ------------------------------- I'm all for teaching ID in public high schools if they follow this paradigm. |

Re: Bravo, University of Kansas
And on a side note (because I love The Onion and this story is pure gold), let's review this quote from the article I linked to above:
"John Calvert, an attorney and managing director of the Intelligent Design Network in Johnson County, said Mirecki will go down in history as a laughingstock." Remember that Mirecki is the department chair at Kansas who defended offering the mythology/ID class. Anyway, after I read that quote, I was instantly reminded of this. And while not Onion related, who could forget this? I'll leave it up to the rest of you to decide who you think the laughingstock in this story is. |
