are you able to make both bets at the same site at the same time? Like with pinnacle, would I be able to bet both the over and under for $X each? Or do you guys typically find your scalps at two different sites? Thanks

the built-in juice at each site for the same game makes self-scalping almost impossible (unless perhaps you take a lead on the moneyline and hold it). however, side/middling the spread can definitely be done if you are willing to have some degree of risk on each side of the margin.

the reason pinnacle is the best way to find completely risk-free arbs is because they are precise enough to shade prices between point spreads. so when you see them hanging lines that are above +105 or +110 (I got a +121 and a +123 in CBB today alone), they are basically inviting anyone to come in big at another sportsbook's expense. most of the "square" books only move the number, but keep the juice.

I reread the original post and realized that the scalp was at two different sites. I guess that makes the most sense.

When you say you got +121 and +123, are you saying that you took those with the intention of scalping another site later? Or were those just bets you liked?

you lead the betting on the square side first, which is usually the same point spread but at -105 or -110. whether you close it immediately at pinnacle or wait a while is up to you. for pro sports, you can often sit on a bad line and watch it continue to go down until you scoop it at the bottom. however with college hoops, the value of points in the middle is difficult to precisely value between teams, and you can't buy or sell back half points like you can with NBA and NFL in case the juice is too high when they move the number. so with some rare exceptions, better to go with the pure scalp (pinnacle often holds their number for a few extra minutes for this exact purpose which is why those inflated prices pop up every so often).
