Default Auto-Logout, marking posts read

#1 - Why does the software force a re-login weekly?

-- AND --

#2 - Why when you login does it mark absolutely everything read?

Both are quite annoying.

I'm not entirely sure about the reasons, but my guess is that it's for your own protection. Allowing the 'remember me' feature to last indefinitely just doesn't seem prudent to me, and logging in once a week or so shouldn't be a big hassle.

The software doesn't always do this, but it does happen. Again, this is one of those things that's primarily about the software being used by these forums. If you have any input on other forum software we could be using, please post in Chuck's thread at the top of this forum.

I can understand the "for your protection" thing if this was a bank site, or neteller -- but for a poker messageboard? I'd wager the majority would prefer you stay logged in. Most of the non-financial type messageboards don't force a re-login weekly. Or monthly.

Regarding #2, the software _always_ does this for me.

I'd vote to pitch #1 until you fix #2.
