i posted this once before in some thread about the playboy centerfolds. after noticing how different the old centerfolds looked compared to todays standards (plastic looking).
i was bored and curious to get an idea of what this 1960s centerfold would look like if retouched by todays standards so i played around in photoshop (of course my retouching sucks but you get the point )

but, i do understand retouching and to me that's just expected in a professional photograph. i just think it's annoying to see half of womens bodys chopped off as often as i seem to, knowing most people think that is how women should look.

This stuff pisses me off. No wonder so many perfectly normal women hate the way they look.

This is botherson in portrait photography, but it is unfortunately here to stay. People are obsessed with perfection and marketing firms know how to sell to them.

The problem for me is when this practice overflows into photo journalism, as it did with the commuter train bombing a while back in Madrid. There was a very popular photo that most outlets ran as their cover, however, it had body parts photoshoped out to 'sterilize it' for public consumption, as if tradegy of this or any other kind could ever be sterilzed.

News is news and if an image is too graphic to be shown, then it should not be shown. Period. Unfortunately, just as we see in todays portrait photography...marketing always wins.

I am glad you made that comment and thank you.
Women are constantly being compared to those so called "perfect women" you see in magazines which is completely absurd. Men need to get their heads out their asses and realize that the majority of women in magazines are fake.

[/ QUOTE ]

Women are just as guilty of this.
