Default Why do I bother making blocking bets?

...If I'm just going to call their raises anyway. If I can beat these games, it doesn't say too much for the 90% who can't.

Party $50NL 6-max. Villain has been at the table for three hands so I don't have much of a read. I'm UTG+1 with AKo, villain is button.

UTG limps, hero raises to $2.50, folded to villain, villain calls $2.50, blinds fold, UTG calls $2

flop-K68r UTG checks, hero bets $5,villain calls $5,UTG folds

turn-7 (suit unimportant) hero checks, villain checks

river T hero bets $8,villain raises to $16,hero calls $8

Yeah, why did you? You get lots of value from hands like KQ and KJ when you bet this turn. And it's never a good idea to give free cards when the turn looks like K876, even though there are no flush draws.

bet the turn. on the river, check. the min raise on the river was a value bet by him due to his gorgeous 9. no need to call the min raise...easy fold. if u bet the river only marginal hands will call, all others will raise.

and requires discipline to use block bet
you have to bet. knowing you will fold to a raise
instead of just calling bc then its no longer a block bet now is it ?? its similar to the stop and go.. you have to be decisive on using it and stick to the plan
