Another reason to love internet poker
Text of an email I just received from a friend in Manhattan,
So I’m officially a hardened poker vet. Went to my poker club Friday night after work. We’re about to start a ˝ game 4 handed when one of the guys that has been waiting a half hour to play says “oh, I gotta go to the ATM, be right back”. A couple of minutes while watching the security monitors, the manager notices 2 people in the smoking room. There were only 6 of us in the club so that we would have noticed if others had come in. He sends the dealer to check and he comes back and says “it’s the cops!” Next thing you know 2 guys come walking in with guns drawn wearing NYPD T-shirts and hats pulled down real low saying “POLICE!!!” First thing that I notice is that there’s only 2 of them and they obviously don’t have vests on. It’s a stick up. They put us on the floor, zip tie our arms behind our backs , put guns to some of our heads and take our wallets. I had just gotten 300 from the atm and bought 160 in chips so they only got 140 from me. A lot of people lost a few hundred from their wallets but most people had money in front pockets or shirt pockets and the idiots didn’t bother to have people empty pockets or check pockets so they didn’t get it. One guy that worked there got 1300 of his own money taken. After all of that, the club stayed open, I stayed and played with my 160 in chips and ended up cashing out around 700.
