Emergency appendectomy = not fun
Hey all,
Well, I've been out of commission the last few days, after ending up in the hospital Sunday night and having my appendix taken out. Anyone else out there been through this? They got it before it burst, which was lucky. Anyway, you don't realize just how much you use your ab muscles until someone has cut into you in that area. Just getting in and out of bed has been a challenge. Ugh. Well, I've missed a few days here, so if there are some threads I missed that I should check out, let me know. I did see that Daryn did well in the PS tournament, congrats to him.

Nolan,
I had my appendix out when I was 16 and you are definitely right it totally sucks!! The one good thing I can tell you is that you should recover fairly quickly, and within a few more days you'll be feeling pretty good again. Hang in there. Sly

I had the same thing happen to me about 2 years ago. Rushed to the emergency room, barely got there in time. Luckily, they were able to do me lapriscopically (sp?) so my scars are almost invisible.
This also reminds me of a funny story. As I was lying in the emergency room, the anesthesiologist (sp?) was about to hook me up with the drugs to make me go to sleep before the surgery. In to the room walks one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. Apparently she is a nursing student, and is working as an intern with the doctor. After the injection, as I am starting to fade away into Happy Land, the doctor turns to the really hot chick, and says "Don't worry if he gets an erection, it is very normal with the drugs". I, in my half-baked state, say "It is very normal without the drugs too". Worst part is that my parents were standing about 5 feet away from me. My dad still busts my balls all the time for that one.

[/ QUOTE ] They did mine open, not laproscopically, so I'm going to have about a 3 inch scar. I plan on telling people it's from a knife fight. I guess my appendix had tucked itself away behind some other organs, so it was sort of hidden and they had to move some stuff around to get to it. And I didn't have any hot nurses around that I can recall. Thanks for the other well wishes (except you Plaster [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]). I will say that vicodin is pretty good stuff, and I can see why Brett Favre liked it.
