Default PSP vs Nintendo DS

As a birthday gift for my brother, which one is better and why? I know lots of it depends on what kinds of games he likes, but if you had to choose one, which would it be?

MarioKart DS looks really fun, but I haven't played either. I'd take the DS, but I suspect I'm a minority in this opinion...

There are basically zero good games for the PSP. The DS has Mariokart.

I have the DS and it sucks but I just got Mario Kart today so it will be fun for a while.

Wouldn't buy DS again though.

Heard the PSP doesn't have much out eiter so wouldn't buy that.

Tough choice, they both kind of suck. DS is a lot cheaper though.

PSP rocks... i don't know what you are talking about in the way of games... GTA, Starwars battlefront II, Twisted metal, plus the UMD movies? I actually dont own any of the UMD movies, but i bought a 1 gig Sony stick and have put several movies on there. I think that i am actually going to watch starwars 3 tonight at work. it plays mp3s, has wifi, and the screen looks awesome. If you already have gameboy games then the DS maybe the way to go, but i didn'y and the extra $100.00 was worth it to me just for the ability to watch movies. anyway, if you want a portable gaming system... take my word for it the PSP rocks.
