Default Interesting CS Lewis movie....

A 1993 film called SHADOWLANDS, starring Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger is about Lewis' love affair and marriage to an American author, Winger. It's a small film, a character study, and quite good. It's also a weepie at the end. Heartbreaking. Hopkins and Winger are both supurb, and winger was nominated for an Oscar. I highly recommend it.

My wife is a huge fan of Shadowlands. She still has a box set of Narnia books from the early 70's.

As usual, good review. And wow... that list is pretty extensive. It might be cool to add star ratings to the list. Thanks for putting that together diebitter.

Also, ChipWrecked, your avatar is awesome.

It's too bad that Harry Potter and LOTR came out first, because Narnia shares a lot of the same features and doesn't stand on its own. I still liked it, but I'd love to see a PG-13 version. Oh well...still a good flick.

and the ending feels rushed. Suddenly the children are all grown up and in the span of mere minutes, back in the wardrobe and into reality

IIRC, that's exactly what happened in the book.
