Good Question. I should have known that was coming, and now I realize why they make it so difficult to make a huge bet.

To be honest, I really don't have a specific game picked out yet, nor do I think I will probably end up betting on a game after these responses, nor do I know if I have the balls to do this. But after busting my ass in Real Estate for a long time, I am at a point in my life where I can take a little risk. I am by no means a rich guy, and $100K is a LOT of money to me.

But........I am considering taking a "big shot" or two, and am exploring my options:

1. Stock Market
2. Bond Market
3. Casino
4. Lots of other options, none of which are sane

I know the smart thing to do with the money. But I'm at the point where if I lose it, it really won't change my day-to-day life. It will hurt bad, but I will be fine. However, if I am willing to take some serious risk, I may be able to change my life substantially.

So I'm considering options. I may leave it in a mutal fund and be a wuss. But it's fun to think.

It just needs to be legal. By changing my life, I do not intend to change into being someone's bitch in the Federal Pen. That isn't the kind of change I'm looking for.

I would invest in the stock market. go to the local bookstore and get yourself a copy of how to make money on stocks. I use the canslim system and have done faily well for myself.

Practice your cardcounting, and call a host.

You'll probably still lose most or all of it, but at least you'll get a few comp suites and meals out of the deal.

But seriously, it sounds like you have psychological issues with having all that money, and you'd be more comfortable if you blew it. That's the thing that drives compulsive gamblers, the type that literally won't rest until all their money is gone.

Before you take a six-figure flyer, look at some GA stuff, and see if it applies to you. Not the ridiculous 20-question quiz, with questions like:

# Did you ever lose time from work or school due to gambling?
# Has gambling ever made your home life unhappy?
# Did gambling affect your reputation?
# Have you ever felt remorse after gambling?

Those tests are a joke. You could replace "gambling" with words like "marriage", and start to feel that marriage was the cause of many problems.

But I know I derived a lot of help from GA, and it was all psychological. I grew up in a blue-collar house, where all the adults would constantly moan, "You can't win in this world, there's no use trying to succeed, 'they' will screw you every time...", as an excuse for their lower positions in life. So whenever I got my hands on any money, I couldn't (subconsciously) stand to have it, and would not feel at peace until I blew every cent of it.

I'm not saying that's you; but your story about wanting to put a large chunk of your worth at risk, needlessly, reminded me of me, before I understood what the hell was going on in my head. So think about it.
